![]() Phwoaah Guvnor! UK ISP does a Telstra
Strictly speaking this story isn't about broadband in Australia -- but it's close enough to the bone to warrant a spot on Whirlpool.
If you feel hard done by Telstra's 3GB download cap, you may take some comfort in knowing that others around the world are suffering too, as telcos take up the trend. A broadband ISP in the UK, Kingston Telecommunications, has recently capped its broadband service to 700MB download per day, The Register reports in this article. Although 700MB per day is pretty good (more than what Optus@Home offers), it would be most unfortunate if you did need to download something larger than 700MB and the ISP switched you off on the 701st megabyte. However this article reports that news of Telstra's slowdown on introducing the 3GB cap has reached these users overseas, who apparently are prepared to take up the same war that Australian broadband customers have been fighting for the past few months. Users are now planning to petition Kingston Telecommunications. P.S. Please excuse the silly headline; I'm getting personal revenge for all those "dinky-di", "true blue" and "down under" headlines we see on websites around the world! There are 19 replies posted.
