This page is about iiNet's VoIP service. This page has been compiled by customers of the VoIP services and should be used as a guide for setting up VoIP with various types of VoIP hardware available in the market.

The details in this FAQ cover iiNet's VoIP product, as well as the iiTalk package provided as part of the Naked DSL service. It should also be of assistance to people using the Business SIP Trunking and Multi-line products, however check with iiNet as some settings are different.

NOTES:
1. This page is NOT officially supported by iiNet and is provided by the community to assist in setting up VoIP.

2. When entering the sip server name please replace state with the relevant state from the following list act, nsw, nt, qld, sa, tas, vic, wa.

3. When entering your phone number into your VoIP device always include your area code and do not enter any spaces or punctuation.

General Details for configuring iiNetPhone
VoIP SIP Domain: iinetphone.iinet.net.au
SIP Server: sip.state.iinet.net.au
Username: Enter your VoIP phone number (remove any formatting such as spaces and dashes)
Password: Enter your special VoIP password (not the same as connection password)

The following settings are recommended, but the service should work regardless:

Re-Registration Time Interval: 300 seconds
Codec Preference: G729 followed by G711 (ulaw or alaw or both) ***G711 seems to be better for the Codec
DNS: Use SRV Records
OOB DTMF:AVT/RFC2833 with Payload Value 101

Firewall Settings
If stopping your firewall fixes any VoIP registration / calling issues, then you'll want to manually allow the following ports through:

Before you try port forwarding as suggested below, edit your SIP config and use port 5070 instead

UDP 5060: From sip.state.iinet.net.au
UDP 35000-44999: From sip.state.iinet.net.au
UDP CPE Port: The port your CPE uses for RTP, eg 8000-8001 or 5061 or 16384 for Netcomm V300 firmware v04
